How to Export Your Translation Project
Learn how to export your translation project in different formats including Plain Text, HTML, and USFM
1. Open the Main Menu
- If the main menu is not open, press the sidebar.
- Navigate to 'Project Settings'.
2. Locate Export Project Option
- Scroll down until you see 'Export Project'.
3. Choose Export Format
Codex offers several export formats:
Standard Formats:
- Plain Text - Simple text file, works anywhere
- HTML - For viewing in browsers or publishing as websites
- USFM - Universal Standard Format for Bible translations
Advanced Formats:
- DOCX Round-trip - Export back to Word with formatting preserved
- VTT/SRT - Export translated subtitles for videos
- OBS Markdown - Export Bible stories with images
- IDML - Export to InDesign for professional publishing
- Rebuild Export - Automatically detects the right format

4. Select Your Files
- Choose which files to export
- You can export single files or multiple at once
5. Download Your Export
- Click the export button
- Choose where to save the file
- Your translation is ready to use!
Quick Tips
Tip: Opening your exported .txt file in Microsoft Word

Launch Word and go to File > Open.

In the Open dialog, change the file type dropdown to "Text Files (*.txt)".

Browse to your .txt file, select it, and click Open.

Word will import the content, which you can then edit and save as a .docx file.
